TRISMS Homework Help
This section of the TRISMS wweb site, is where the parents who have formed
an email discussion/support group, publish the educational sites they
and their students find as they follow the timeline.
The first group of links below are generic research and educational
sites.
The second group of links, History Makers through Rise of Nations is
the TRISMS Homeschool Curriculum.

History
Makers (main HM page)
covers the entire
timeline in one to two years, depending on the age and ability
of your child. |

"TRISMS
uses a format of integrated study where all subjects focus on
a point in time. By studying the Scientists, Inventions,
and Explorers, the student gains skills in Reading, Vocabulary,
Language Arts, Science, History, and Geography. History Makers
develops research
skills and critical thinking while developing a chronological and
geographical progression through time: the big picture. History
Makers provides two years of study for younger students, or a
one year study,
including high school credits, for the eighth or ninth grader.
Excellent for co-ops, or multi-level setting, this versatile
curriculum features
a weekly lesson plan that eliminates hours of preparation and planning."

| Discovering
the Ancient World |
First
in a series. (main DAW page)
A History
Maker student would begin their high school studies with Discovering
the Ancient World. Yet, any
high school age or "older" middle school student can begin
this wonderful series. |
Link above goes to
eduational links! |
"Discovering the Ancient
world begins with Creation and covers the earliest civilizations
known up to 500 B.C., both
Eastern and Western. For each civilization students study and map
the region, study the literature of the people, the science discoveries
of the times, and delve into the art, music and architecture unique
to each people group. Comparison questions, intensive writing assignments
(with an option of including the Institute for Excellence in Writing),
and research skills develop critical thinking in the students. This
is a multi-cultural approach to literature and composition using
the actual writings from the civilizations. All literature necessary
for the course is included in the user's manual. Science focuses
on discoveries made during the time period with an emphasis on the
concepts of these discoveries and their impact on today’s technology.
Your scholar will create a coursebook, make a timeline, and mark
the expansion of civilization on an unmarked world map.
Answer keys are provided for all questionnaires and tests."

| Expansion
of Civilizations |
Second
in a series. (main
EOC page) |

"Expansion of Civilization
picks up at 500 B.C. and takes students through time by civilization
up through the Middle
Ages. Students map the expansion of civilization by mapping co-existing
civilizations as they study each new area. This exciting study offers
a complete Introduction to Rhetoric course along with the study of
each civilization, its art, music, and architecture, and science
developments. The student takes a close look at the civilization
as a society noting human rights, religion, philosophy, government
and laws, economics, and scientific advancements. Eastern and Western
civilizations are studied chronologically and geographically. Again,
the literature used is not literature about the people, but by the
people and a complete anthology is included in the user's manual.
Your scholar will create a coursebook, make a timeline, and mark
the expansion of civilization on an unmarked world map. Answer keys
are provided for all questionnaires and tests."

| Rise
of Nations |
Third
in a series. (main RON page) |
Link above goes to
eduational links! |
"Rise of Nations students
study the Renaissance to 1860. As civilizations give way to nations,
students began to see
the formation of the nations and people groups we know today. Rather
than studying the humanities as a whole, specific artist, musicians,
and pieces of architecture are studied in the context of the nation
from which the greatest artists and musicians of all time originated.
The literature portion of the course is included with a complete
anthology and the opportunity to develop advanced writing skills
with the Institute for Excellence in Writing. Rise of Nations offers
a credit in philosophy as well as economics. Your scholar will create
a coursebook, make a timeline, and mark the expansion of civilization
on an unmarked world map."
