TRISMS is a research based curriculum, not a
textbook study course. We want our children to learn to dig for
basic information on their own rather than spoon-feeding them.
We want students to master certain skills: skimming and scanning,
research, critical thinking use all types of reference materials,
and understand how to use the library system.
We designed a framework with enough information for students to create their
own "textbooks." Rather
than giving them dates and facts to memorize, our goal is for them
to be able to look at a certain time period and recall historic figures
and discoveries as well as the most important details concerning them.
Reading is strongly emphasized with TRISMS. We have students read one cultural
literature, historical fiction or biography a week to immerse them in the time
period.

"World
Views is academically challenging, Christian-based, and provides
a good exposure to classical literature, history, art, and music.
It is superior to almost all high schools, as well as to the
liberal arts components offered in most colleges and universities.
Any successful
course material will pass the number one litmus test for home
schoolers: Is it easy for the parents to use? Quine's
plan calls for a student to spend fifteen to twenty hours a week
on the material, while a parent would spend four to seven hours
in preparation, instruction, and discussion. This kind of ratio
will enable thousands of home schooling mothers to offer an intense,
academically challenging course while keeping her sanity with all
her other duties.” Michael Farris
